HKDA Global Design Awards 2018 Awards Exhibition
Exhibition
To emphasize this message, Oval Design used 400 recyclable carton boxes to make a hanging installation enhanced by projected animation as a visual anchor. The animation echoed with GDA’s theme of convergence and featured the convergency and divergency of squares. The intent is multiple fold: to echo with the main visual of the Awards, to project brand presence as the three alphabets G-D-A could be vividly seen when the carton boxes were overlapped and pieced up; to give maximum space for exposing the award entries as a token of appreciation and, to create an ambience for enriching visitors’ enjoyment.
Another 1,400 carton boxes arranged in different configurations were used for displaying the award entries in various sizes and shapes. Some boxes were set up as benches at a well-tested, low level to create a new perspective for the audience to look at the artworks.
In the end, we have created an environment that is nondidactic, warm, cozy, and can elevate appreciation of creativity within a modest budget. The exhibition has attracted 11,200 local, Asia and overseas visitors in total and created good impression among audience.
This is what Oval should contribute as a spatial communicator.
Location: PMQ, Central, Hong Kong
